Set up Hot Potato, Wild Card and Group Blitz

Add one compatible intensifier with clear action, timing and instructor-confirmation rules.

Choose one workflow

After saving the basic challenge, choose one intensifier from the dropdown. Classic and Points Based support all three. Group Goal supports Wild Card and Group Blitz. Chase the Champ supports only deduction-only Hot Potato. Virtual Bingo and Chaos Mode support none. Selecting a different intensifier replaces the other intensifier configuration; do not combine them.

Hot Potato: act before passing

Choose the first holder or let StudioLife choose randomly. Set Action required to pass the potato, minimum and maximum countdown, and Explosion Points Deduction. Countdown units can be minutes, hours, days or weeks. The holder completes the action, then passes to an eligible challenger; the last two holders cannot receive it next. Expiry deducts the configured amount. Chase the Champ never awards successful-pass bonuses.

  • Fitness: require attendance at a class before passing.
  • Tutoring: use a custom instruction to solve and explain a practice problem; confirm it yourself.
  • Studio: require attendance at a selected rehearsal or class before passing.

Wild Card: individual surprise actions

Set how many Wild Cards each challenger receives, add the possible actions, and choose the completion window and success reward or missed-action deduction. Different challengers can receive different actions and timing. Zero rewards and deductions are allowed when you want participation without a scoring change.

  • Fitness: rotate a recorded class and an instructor-confirmed technique demonstration.
  • Tutoring: rotate custom vocabulary, reading and problem-solving tasks.
  • Studio: rotate selected classes and a custom technique demonstration.

Group Blitz: a shared event

Schedule Missions with a title, day/time, location, completion window, reward and deduction. Everyone receives the same Mission at the same scheduled time. Choose whether clients can see the Mission or it stays instructor-only, and confirm completion for each participant. Multiple scheduled Blitz Missions belong to one Group Blitz intensifier.

  • Fitness: schedule a group conditioning event at the gym.
  • Tutoring: schedule a shared review workshop in the study room.
  • Studio: schedule a group rehearsal on the studio floor.

System actions versus custom actions

A recorded class, attended session, qualifying product purchase or other supported system action must actually be recorded before it counts; a booking alone is not attendance. For an offline task, select Custom action and write a clear instruction. Custom Hot Potato and Wild Card actions require the instructor to confirm completion; clients cannot self-award it. Group Blitz is instructor-confirmed per challenger.

For Classic and Group Goal, adjustments use the challenge’s configured progress unit; competitive modes use points. Explain deductions in those units before enrolling clients. Custom rewards do not automatically issue a product, cash or a credit.

Notifications and natural merge tags

Edit SMS and email separately for the selected channels and preview each message. {{challenge}} names the challenge; {{Champ}} represents the leader label in applicable competitive messages. Hot Potato templates can use {{action}} as an instruction such as “Take a class” and {{deadline}} as a readable deadline. SMS still needs a configured sender and documented consent; an opt-out is never bypassed.
